AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players and digital cameras. The devices, operating at the same voltage, require higher currents and use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, as modern electronics become more efficient and miniaturized, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. A AAA battery is 44.5 mm long and 10.5 mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh about 11.5 grams each, while AAA lithium batteries weigh about 7.6 grams and rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH) typically weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5 V, while that of Ni-MH or NiCd batteries is 1.2 V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is typically 900 to 1155 mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
