AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. Devices that require higher currents at the same voltage use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, as modern electronics become more efficient and miniaturized, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. A AAA battery is 44.5 mm long and 10.5 mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh about 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA batteries weigh about 7.6 grams, and rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH) typically weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5 V, while Ni-MH or NiCd batteries are 1.2 V. The capacity of AAA alkaline batteries is typically 900–1155 mAh (3240–4158 coulombs).
